The Newnan City Council has approved a request for filming of a movie in the city.

On Monday afternoon, the council approved a request from Pym Particles Productions II LLC to film scenes for a movie with the working title, “Cherry Blue.” Atlanta media reports indicate “Cherry Blue” is the working title for “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” which is based on a Marvel comic series.

In a meeting Monday evening that lasted less than 20 minutes, the council approved filming on Oct. 6 from approximately 4-11 p.m. Sites for filming include a residence, 22 Woodlane Drive, and a cul-de-sac adjacent to Sewell Road. A camera drone will be used for part of the filming.

“Cherry Blue” filmed in August on Peters Street, Ted Turner Drive and Haynes Street in Atlanta. The cast of the film reportedly includes Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michael Pena, Hannah John-Kamen and Michelle Pfeiffer.

At Monday’s meeting, the council also held the second and final reading for the solid waste ordinance regulating garbage pickup in downtown Newnan.

The council approved sale of a small lot on Wesley Street to Kimberly Bourroughs Debrow. Debrow owns the adjacent property and submitted the only bid, of $5,001, for the parcel, which had been declared surplus by the city.

Appointments to city boards were approved as were requests for street closings for Purified Living Ministries’ Hallelujah Festival at the First Avenue Park on Oct. 29, the Harpers Farm Homeowners Association’s Fall Festival on Nov. 4 and the Run for Angels on Feb. 3.
