Northgate’s Hasberger finishes first

Northgate’s Hayden Hasberger ran out in front of the rest of the pack Saturday at the Sandy Creek Cross Country Kickoff to capture the first meet of the year.

Hasberger finished the race in a time of 17:02 to help his team finished third overall in the boys race with 99 points.

East Coweta was also at the event, finishing fifth in the boys half of the competition with 120 points.

In the girls meet, Northgate finished fifth with 135 points and East Coweta sixth with 140 points.

East Coweta’s Kyle Harkabus (17:53) was the first Indian across the finish line, finishing in sixth place.

Also for Northgate, Sherman Dewey (18:15) was eighth, Michael Nelson (19:43) was 29th, Sam Wessells 30th (19:54) and Davis McIntyre (19:56) was 31st.

For East Coweta, Lamar Weeden (18:44) was 14th, Kade Johnson (18:54) was 16th, Dalton Cosby was 41st, and Braden Ray (20:25) was 43rd.

Northgate’s Elise Glovigen (20;46) had the the top finish among Coweta County runners in the girls meet with a fifth-place finish.

East Coweta’s Holly Hind (22:14) turned in the Lady Indians’ best run with a 13th-place finish.

Also for Northgate, Sydney Tuttle (22:20) was 16th, Caroline Nelson (24:38) was 34th, Meredith Rielly (24:43) was 36th, Shelby Watson (28:04) was 49th.

East Coweta’s Miya Dean (22:18) was 15th, Riley Walsh (23:48) was 32nd, Jessica Gerakaris (26:33) was 42nd, and Haley Davis was 43rd.

The Newnan Cross Country teams competed in the Atlanta Classic on Saturday.

The Newnan boys finished finished sixth with 170 points, while the Lady Cougars were eighth.

Will Thomas (18:30) led the way for the Cougars with a 37th-place performance.

Gray Frederick (19:21) was 48th, Thomas Collins (19:45) was 59th, and Andrew Lewis (20:05) was 66th.

The Lady Cougars’ Rachel Woods (23:01) finished 38th. Mallory Greene (23:44) was 51st, Sydney Hall (24:04) was 61st, Grace Shay (24:41) was 63rd.
