The Cam Newton Foundation’s Tutorial Program will hold an open house at Zion’s Community House on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 6 p.m.
This will be the fourth year the organization is offering free tutoring to students, according to Luther Day, director of the Zion’s Community House, which hosts the tutoring program every . Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-8 p.m. at 121 Temple Avenue.
The program is led by eight certified teachers tutoring in math, English and courses that have a Milestone exam. At the open house, interested students and parents will be able to meet the teachers and learn more about what’s required.
The program, “utilizes a small group and individualized tutorial model for delivering academic support to students in need of remedial and/or enrichment in core subject areas,” according to the Cam Newton Foundation website.
Students from any school and all grades Pre-K through 12th can apply for tutoring. The program begins Aug. 19.
“We don’t want to just help students physically with sports, but academically as well,” Day said.
A free meal will be served at the end of each session, around 7:30 p.m.
Registration will be open at Zion’s Community House Aug. 12 and 13 from 5-7 p.m. For more information, visit www.zionscommunitycenter.com/cnf-tutorial .
