Odyssey Charter School in Newnan recently completed its accreditation audit with AdvancEd, and evaluators gave the school a glowing review.
AdvancED is the parent organization of the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI).
The organization conducts rigorous, on-site reviews of a variety of educational institutions and systems to ensure that all learners realize their full potential. They serve as a trusted partner to 36,000 educational institutions – employing more than 4 million educators and enrolling more than 20 million students – across the United States and 70 other nations.
Each teacher at Odyssey Charter School was observed in the classroom and critiqued by the AdvancED audit team. Their scores were detailed in a 20-page report to the Odyssey Charter
School Board of Education. Several group interviews also were conducted during the audit, with parents, students, community members and office staff interviewed by the review team.
To gauge a school’s effectiveness, AdvancED uses a diagnostic based on leadership, learning and resource capacity. Odyssey’s exit score of 345.5 was 20 percent higher than the national average.
