The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m. Therefore, inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage and other areas.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America- Newnan, 600 Celebrate Life Pkwy., Newnan – was inspected June 26 and received a score of 91-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed ground beef stored over bacon and steak in walk-in cooler. Person-in-charge moved beef to lower shelves. Corrected on-site. New violation.

The Cellar, 20 Jefferson St., Newnan –  was inspected June 25 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: Dust on ceiling tiles near vent covers. New violation. Observed one split gasket on reach-in freezer door. New violation.

Cold Stone Creamery, 234 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan – was inspected June 26 and received a score of 94-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed one bottle of Spectracide bug repellent on chemical storage rack. All pest control must be applied by a certified pest control specialist. New violation. Ice buildup under fan unit in walk-in freezer and fan cover missing. Dust on fan cover in walk-in cooler. New violation.

Duff’s Famous Wings, 3150 E. Hwy. 34, Newnan – was inspected June 25 and received a score of 88-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed items in prep-top cooler above 41F. PIC moved items to walk-in cooler or put ice underneath them. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed wet-wiping cloth stored in bucket at bar with no sanitizing solution. PIC had employee make sanitizing solution for rags. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins, 12 Bailey Station, Sharpsburg – was inspected June 25 and received a score of 90-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed sanitizer buckets and spoon cups not testing for sufficient levels of sanitizer. New violation. Observed two crates of milk stored on the floor in the walk-in cooler. New violation. 

Encompass Health Rehab Hospital of Newnan, 2101 E. Newnan Crossing Blvd., Newnan –  was inspected June 24 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed no choking poster on the wall. PIC printed and posted choking poster on the wall. Corrected on-site. Repeat violation. 

Home 2 Suites by Hilton, 4051 McIntosh Pkwy., Newnan –  was inspected June 21 and received a score of 87-B. Inspector’s comments: Using time as a public health control, but product is not marked with a discard time or time it was prepared or put out for customer self-service. New violation. Observed chemical spray bottle without label or product inside container. PIC stated unlabeled chemical spray bottle was moved from kitchen. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Newnan Health and Rehabilitation, 244 East Broad St., Newnan –  was inspected June 25 and received a score of 100-A. 

Fat Boys Bar & Grill, 485 Hwy. 16 W., Newnan –  was inspected June 14 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed milk with date of June 13. PIC threw milk away. Corrected on-site. New violation. 

LaQuinta Inn, 600 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan –  was inspected June 24 and received a score of 80-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed food service employee without hair restraint. New violation. Observed dishes being washed, rinsed and towel-dried. Train and follow proper dishwashing procedure as required for a permitted food service operation. New violation. 

Little Caesars, 3219 Hwy. 34 E.,  Newnan – was inspected June 25 and received a score of 85-B. Inspector’s comments: Sanitizer buckets not testing for sufficient level of sanitizer. New violation. Observed plastic and metal food pans wet stacked on dish drying rack. New violation.

Oasis Bar & Grill, 11 Spence Ave.,  Newnan – was inspected June 21 and received a score of 91-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed scissors and a roll of cabinet liners in handwash sink in main kitchen area. Removed during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed can of pest spray in main kitchen area underneath sink. All pesticides should be applied by a certified pest control specialist. New violation.
