Campers performing in Friday’s “Princesses, Knights & Dragons” at Newnan Theatre Company included front, Willow Holland, Sammy Jo Wisely, Nevaeh Wood and Grace Stanley; second row, Katie Ray Dunlap, Madelyn Stackpoole, Savannah Stevenson, Katelyn Stackpoole and BellaRae DeLeon; back, Olivia Jannuzzello, Henry Kostuch and Mary Scott Fabrizi.

Students will head back to school soon, but participants in Newnan Theatre Company’s summer KidsCamp ended their summer vacation on a dramatic note.

A dozen half-day campers performed in “Princesses, Knights & Dragons” Friday, showcasing their new theatre skills in a demonstration for their parents, relatives and friends. The show focused on the “Lost Princesses,” who must work together to save their fellow Disney princesses after they are kidnapped.

Willow Holland, Sammy Jo Wisely, Nevaeh Wood, Grace Stanley, Katie Ray Dunlap, Madelyn Stackpoole, Savannah Stevenson, Katelyn Stackpoole, BellaRae DeLeon, Olivia Jannuzzello, Henry Kostuch and Mary Scott Fabrizi made up the cast of princesses, villains and animal sidekicks.

It was the final week in a six-session summer theatre camp lineup. Other weekly themes were Ancient Egypt, Wondrous Wizards, Everything is Awesome, In a Far Off Galaxy and Christmas in July.

During full and half-day “drama boot camps,” students in kindergarten through fifth grades learned to design and build sets, write skits, create characters and put on a show from working theatre professionals, teachers and college theatre students.
