From what I understand, Nike pulled its sneakers featuring an American flag because of objections raised by Colin Kaepernick, former NFL quarterback.
He apparently found the flag offensive. In a recent Nike ad, Mr. Kaepernick is quoted as saying “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.”
I seriously doubt if Mr. Kaepernick has any real understanding of what it means to “sacrifice everything.” Perhaps he should visit Normandy and see the thousands of white crosses of young men and women who in fact sacrificed everything. Or he could travel to Washington D.C. and see the Vietnam Wall and touch the names of 58,000 men and women who sacrificed everything.
There are, by the way, two names on that Wall of my fellow pilots from the 554th Reconnaissance Squadron who served admirably and were proud of the American flag and what it stands for.
