Edwin Roger Smalley, Sr., 74, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Eternal Hope Hospice in Griffin.

Born, November 4, 1944, in Jacksonville, Alabama, he was a son of the late Milton Rodgers Smalley and I.V. (Vise) Smalley. Ed was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and attended Jacksonville State University. On March 13, 1963, Ed married his sweetheart, Doris Helen Beal. Together they walked life’s path to his final breath on the morning of July 6th, 2019. 

After retiring from a successful career in building material sales, Ed drove a school bus for the Coweta County school system. He was warm, kind, and giving. Ed never met a stranger and he never missed an Alabama football game (Roll Tide).

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Cynthia June Smalley.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Doris, are a son Edwin Rodgers Smalley Jr. and wife Mary; daughter, Kristina Leigh (Smalley) Carpenter and husband Chesley; and their two children Dorien and Elwyn.

Graveside services for Mr. Edwin “Ed” Rodgers Smalley, Sr. will be conducted Sunday, July 14, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. CT at Green Lawn Cemetery in Jacksonville Alabama.
