Charles Raymond Walls, 71, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 20, 1947 in Atlanta to the late Ray Bartley Walls & Eloise Katherlyn Hammond Walls.

Raymond grew up in Palmetto and was a 1965 graduate of Campbell High School.  He attended West Georgia College and several months before graduation he joined the Marine Corps.  Raymond was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served on the front lines during his tour of duty.

After his military service, he began his successful 48-year career as an insurance broker.  His commitment to and concern for his clients was evident-even in his final days he was working to make sure his clients were taken care of.

Raymond’s love of his community was apparent in his service as a board member of the Newnan Coweta Chamber of Commerce and as President of the Optimist Club. He and his family are longtime members of Central Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.

His true passion was his love of his family and the outdoors. Ever the entrepreneur, he was involved in many ventures including the Singing Needles Christmas Tree Farm.

The memorial service is Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Katie Faison officiating. The family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall beginning at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

The private, family burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  The family respectfully requests that flowers not be sent and contributions be made to Central Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1221, Newnan, GA 30264.

What Raymond would really prefer is that his friends do a random act of kindness for others.

Survivors include wife, Barbara Walls; children, Amber (Jeremy) Woods, Brittney (James) Babcock, Shelby (Andy) Brown, Warren (Eileen) Walls; grandchildren, Charlie Woods, Jacob Woods, Gage Brown, Owen Brown, William Walls; siblings, Cheryl Folds, Gayla Walls, and Doug Walls.
