Hailey Williamson learns how to walk in huge animal feet on June 3 at Vacation Bible School at Providence Baptist Church on Providence Church Road. Providence is one of many local churches using the "In the Wild” theme for VBS.

"VBS is in full swing," reports Dr. J. Wayne Jenkins, associational missionary for Western Baptist Association.

The association is a coalition of Southern Baptist churches in Coweta and surrounding counties. Jenkins visited the eight Western Baptist Association churches having VBS this week.

Eleven more WBA churches will have VBS next week.

"We have 32 churches offering VBS this summer," Jenkins said. "Thousands of children will hear the good news of God's love."

Sunnyside Baptist Church on Greenville Street has announced its plans for Bible School. Linda Pike said the theme at Sunnyside will be “In the Wild,” and there will be classes for ages 3-12.

Sunnyside’s VBS will be July 8-10. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. on July 8, and VBS will end at 8:30. Hours will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. on July 9-10.

Pike said supper will be served each night as part of Sunnyside’s VBS.
