The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m. Therefore, inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

Onelife Fitness Atlanta-Newnan Express, 19 Millard Farmer Ind Blvd., Suite A, Newnan – was inspected April 24 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed missing wood floor slat in prep area. New violation. Employee food items stored in cooler with consumer food items. New violation.

Onelife Fitness Newnan Sports Club, 460 Newnan Crossing, Newnan – was inspected April 19 and received a score of 100-A. Inspector’s comments: No hot water available at hand-wash sink. New violation. Observed one box of meat stored on the floor. New violation.

Papa John’s Pizza, 285 Temple Ave., Suite E Newnan – was inspected April 19 and received a score of 86-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed employee sitting on prep counter. New violation. Observed an open bag of italian seasoning on shelf not sealed after opening. New violation.

Popeye’s, 1435 Hwy. 34 E., Newnan – was inspected April 23 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed ice buildup on floor of walk-in freezer. New violation. Observed one plastic bin on drying rack with date mark sticker on the outside of the bin. Stickers should be removed prior to food containers being washed, rinsed and sanitized. New violation.

Rasoi Indian Kitchen, 1065 Sullivan Road, Suite C, Newnan – was inspected April 24 and received a score of 80-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed ready-to-eat foods without proper date labels. New violation. Observed containers of cut vegetables in reach-in cooler stored without covers and subject to contamination. New violation.

Starbucks, 3151 Hwy. 34 E., Newnan – was inspected April 17 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed plastic food bin holding sugar with no label. New violation. Observed foods exceeding use and best-by dates, such as two bags of corn chips with best-by dates of February 2019 and two protein boxes with use-by dates of April 16, 2019 in drive-thru cooler. New violation.

Starbucks in Kroger, 3150 E. Hwy. 34, Newnan – was inspected April 15 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed cups overstocked behind counter exposing the lip area. New violation.

Taco Bell, 3410 Hwy. 34 E., Newnan – was inspected April 17 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed scoop handles in cheese touching content. Scoops stored in ingredients between use should be stored with handles above the content. New violation.

Wendy’s, 381 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan – was inspected April 15 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: Black spots on drop area of ice machine. Should be cleaned at a frequency to prevent accumulation. New violation. Thermometers needed inside reach-in coolers, cooler drawers and walk-in cooler. New violation.

Wendy’s, 135 Fischer Crossing Drive, Sharpsburg – was inspected April 15 and received a score of 91-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed black buildup on drop area and deflector shield of ice machine. New violation. Observed multiple date-mark stickers on two containers of lettuce in the walk-in cooler. New violation.

WNB Factory, 1111 Lower Fayetteville Road, Suite 1500, Newnan – was inspected April 11 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed handle submerged in rice in the rice bin. Moved out of food product during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed pans wet-stacked. Gave to certified food safety manager for pans to be re-washed, rinsed, sanitized and air dried before stacking together. Corrected on-site. New violation.
