Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2950 Primrose Road - Zion Hill Community, Greenville, will be celebrating its 143rd Church Anniversary on Sunday.

Derrick Driver will bring the message at 11a.m., and Dr. Angela Starling will be preaching at 2 p.m. Starling is pastor of Warren Chapel AME Church and Sandy Run AME Church in Sparta.

Newnan Presbyterian Church will hold its church picnic on Sunday at 11:15 a.m.

The picnic will be held at Greenville Street Park. Fried chicken and beverages will be provided. Attendees will bring side dishes, which may be left at Barrow Hall prior to 10 a.m. and transported to the park.

If it rains, the event will take place in Barrow Hall.

Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church, Bohannon Road, Grantville will honor Pastor Rodney Dexter Grier his wife, Eleanor, on Sunday.

The church will be celebrating Grier’s sixth anniversary as pastor at Mt. Gilead. Chris McCambry, pastor of Greater Jehovah Baptist Church, and the choir from Greater Jehovah will take part in the 1:30 p.m. service.

Chairperson Derriagh Lowe will be the mistress of ceremonies. Dinner will be served after morning service.

LIFE Church will hold a Women in Christ Conference on June 7-8 at Palmetto Baptist Church.

Vincent and Zenobia L. Broomfield, pastors of LIFE Church, are hosting the event, which is expected to bring 400 participants together. Jekalyn Carr, Grammy-nominated gospel singer, will sing.

C.S. Lewis’s “The Screwtape Letters” is being staged at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Performances are June 8 at 4 and 8 p.m. and June 9 at 3 p.m. at the Ferst Center at Georgia Tech. The play follows Screwtape, a senior tempter in Hell, as he schemes to capture the soul of an unsuspecting human. Spiritual warfare is depicted in vivid, humorous and powerful ways.
