Newnan Mayor Keith Brady, left, congratulates K.G. Bailey, who is being honored with a day in his honor on Saturday.

This Saturday will be Reverend Dr. K. G. Bailey Day.

The day has been proclaimed by Newnan Mayor Keith Brady. The proclamation honors Bailey, who for 19 years has been pastor of White Oak Grove Baptist Church near Senoia.

Bailey, 48, is a Newnan native – the oldest child of the late George and Willie A Bailey. He graduated from Manchester High School and then joined the U.S. Army. He served in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.

Bailey was called into the ministry in March 1995 while attending New Life Christian
Fellowship Church in Lawton Okla. During a military deployment to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Bailey started a ministry located on a cruise ship and held tent revival services.

After his military service, Bailey served as assistant pastor at his home church, Mt.
Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Moreland. In 2000 he began pastoring Mt. Gillard Baptist Church in LaGrange.

Bailey earned his doctoral degree in divinity/biblical studies from the Minnesota Graduate School.

He and his wife, Daniela Lashawn Sanders, have been married 26 years. They have two daughters, Jasmine and Desiree, and a grandson, Carson.

In the proclamation,  Brady wished Bailey, “his family, and White Oak Grove Baptist Church all the best as Dr. Bailey is celebrated at the Pastor Anniversary Banquet.”
