On Friday, April 19, 2019 around 11:50 a.m. God granted Mr. Raymond Valco Cook final rest, and he received his wings that he so richly deserved. He was 87 years old.

Mr. Cook was born in Carroll County, Georgia on July 25, 1931, the son of the late Ada Lou Cook Prichard and Buner Watson Prichard. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Leonard Ann Cook; grandson, David Watson Cook II; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and DJ McLellan.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, retired as assistant Fire Chief from City of Carrollton Fire Department after 21 years of service. After retirement, he continued to volunteer with the department. He also had a fire extinguisher business where he served and sold fire extinguishers.

Mr. Cook’s hobbies were fishing, hunting and raising chickens. He loved camping, traveling and working on old cars and lawn mowers. He will be greatly missed on this earth. 

Survivors include his wife of 67 ½ years, Bobbie Jo Howard Cook; daughter and son-in-law, Avis and Bob Bleau of Carrollton; son and daughter-in-law, David and Angela Cook of Mt. Zion; grandchildren, Gary and Dawn Weldon of Carrollton, Christy and Michael McLellan of Mt. Zion, Adam and Robin Cook of Villa Rica; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan and Ashton Weldon; Dakota, Sebastian and James Britt; Sierra, Harley and Micheala McLellan; Raiden and Raymond Cook; Zack, Daniel and Madison Ealey; great-great-grandchildren, Bella, Southern and Emmie Britt; Brooklyn Smith, Cayden and Parker Ealey and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was known as a devoted, loving, caring husband, father and grandfather and a friend to all who knew him. 

The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Christopher Arant and staff. Also, the nurses and therapist of Amedisys Home Health whom all have went above and beyond.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home in Carrollton on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Goshen Congregational Methodist Church in Franklin at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Keith Hancock, Rev. Hubert Carroll, Minister J.C. Cook and Minister Tim Cook officiating. His body will lie in state from 1:30 p.m. until service time. Those wishing to participate in the funeral procession should meet at the funeral home at 12 noon.

Pallbearers will be Adam Cook, Brandon Weldon, Dakota Britt, Sebastian Britt, James Valco Britt, Nathan Weldon and Russell Shoemake.

Interment will be in Goshen Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery in Franklin.
