For the second time in less than a week, the Northgate Vikings lost a one-run decision to region rival Alexander.
After dropping a 5-4 contest at home on Friday, the Vikings again fell just short against the Cougar, losing 1-0 on the road Monday.
With the loss, the Vikings dropped to 19-9 overall and 11-4 overall.
The loss means Northgate will enter the playoffs as the No. 3 seed out of the region.
Alexander improved to 22-5 overall and 14-1.
The Cougars managed just four hits, but scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the third when Zeke Gilbert drove in Tyler White.
Northgate finished the game with five hits, but left six base runners on board.
Shawn Ragan finished the game with two hits to lead the offense for the Vikings.
Northgate’s Robert Smith, Elliott Vickery and Sam Jennings also got hits for the Vikings.
Ryder Willard pitched six innings for the Vikings, striking out three and walking two.
Payton Grant picked up the win for the Cougars going the distance and striking out two.
