Kerrie Head awarded Reiman Scholarship

Kerrie Head of Newnan has been awarded the Thomas and Wendy Reiman Endowed Scholarship from Georgia State University.

The scholarship provides support to undergraduates who have reached the junior or senior level in the College of Arts & Sciences and are majoring in the humanities.

Porter honored by Black Faculty and Staff Association

Reginald Porter of Newnan recently received the Archie Wade Award from the University of Alabama's Black Faculty and Staff Association during the organization’s Academic Premier Awards on Black Scholars Day.

The Black Faculty and Staff Association advocates for educational equity with an emphasis on African-American students and the professional needs of its members. The organization promotes and provides opportunities for networking among individuals and groups to articulate mutual concerns and advance educational opportunities.

Cowetans earn degrees from WGU

Several Cowetans recently earned degrees from Western Governors University, an online, nonprofit university. They include Kimberly Goins of Newnan, Bachelor of Science, Business Management; Susan Fincher of Newnan, Master of Science, Nursing-Education (BSN to MSN); Robin Baker of Newnan, Bachelor of Science, Nursing; Roxana Green of Palmetto, Bachelor of Science, Business Management; Ryma Djeddour of Palmetto, Bachelor of Science, Business-Human Resource Management; and Amelie Poujol of Sharpsburg, Bachelor of Science, Nursing.

• Madras Middle School will hold its Guitar Spring Concert today, April 28, at 2 p.m.

• Jefferson Parkway Elementary School will hold its Spring Concert Monday, April 29, at 6 p.m.

• Northgate High School will hold its Honors Night Tuesday, April 30, at 7 p.m.

The Coweta County School System will hold its Teacher Of The Year celebration Wednesday, May 1 at 6 p.m.

• Poplar Road Elementary School will hold its Fine Arts Night Thursday, May 2, at 6:30 p.m.

• Northgate High School will hold its Spring Band Concert Sunday, May 5, at 7 p.m.

Monday, April 29: East Coweta High School Honors Night, Crossroads Church (Hwy. 16), 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, May 2: Newnan High School Honors Night, Unity Baptist Church, 7 p.m.
