I have to agree with “Miss Norma” Haynes regarding her concerns about the permanent murals on some of our historic buildings downtown.
No further comment is really needed to explain that.
However, I was delighted to see William Banks’ temporary oversized photo on a Jefferson Street building. My late mother, a Newnan native, Martha Latimer Young, would have enjoyed seeing her childhood friend, William’s, visage up there – almost as much as she loved riding around in Mrs. Peniston’s old Cadillac with Joe Powell behind the Texas longhorns adorning the hood.
This is not to diminish Mother’s unique experience riding with Gandy Glover during one of his “urban shooting adventures.”
