The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m. Therefore, inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

China Express, 50 Bullsboro Drive, H44, Newnan – was inspected Jan. 31 and received a score of 76-C. Inspector’s comments: Observed cooked chicken stored in walk-in and reach-in cooler without date marking. New violation. Observed open bags of sugar and flour stored without cover. Repeat violation.

China Kitchen 90 Glenda Trace, Suite H, Newnan –  was inspected Jan. 5 and received a score of 93-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed multiple pans of cut vegetables without date marking. Person-in-charge stated items were prepped last night and added date stickers. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed bag of onions on the floor. Person-in-charge moved the bag off the floor. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Cold Stone Creamery, 234 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan – was inspected Feb. 4 and received a score of 88-B. Inspector’s comments: Ice buildup in walk-in freezer and missing cover. New violation. Observed open chocolate and caramel sauce stored on dry storage rack. Foods should be stored in a sealed container or sealed with plastic wrap after opening. New violation .

Dirty Beard BBQ LLC, 1508 Boone Road, Newnan – was inspected Feb. 2 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: Post required items in view of consumer. New violation. Seal floor at base of operation and complete onsite sewage work. New violation.

Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins, 12 Bailey Station, Newnan – was inspected Feb. 4 and received a score of 85-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed two containers of ice cream on the floor in the walk-in freezer. Observed one open of bag of vanilla cone mix on storage rack next to walk-in cooler. New violation. Observed dried residue on inside of blender covers. New violation.

Dynasty Lin Inc., 34 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan –  was inspected Jan. 25 and received a score of 77-C. Inspector’s comments: Observed multiple pans of cut vegetables and meats stored without lids in reach-in coolers and freezer. Repeat violation. Observed multiple containers of prepared, chopped vegetables and partially cooked/cooled chicken without date labels. New violation.

Garlic Thai Cuisine and Sushi Bar, 16 N. Court Square, Newnan –  was inspected Jan. 31 and received a score of 78-C. Inspector’s comments: Observed first aid items and kit stored on dry storage rack. New violation. Observed a bag of sugar stored on the floor in the dry storage area. New violation.

Great China, 1111 Lower Fayetteville Road, Suite 1800, Newnan –  was inspected Jan. 31 and received a score of 85-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed cooked food in walk-in cooler without date labels. Repeat violation. Observed raw chicken above raw beef. Person-in-charge moved raw chicken to bottom shelf. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Kimble’s Food by Design (Yamaha Plant No. 1),1000 Hwy. 34 E., Newnan –  was inspected Feb. 1 and received a score of 90-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed raw chicken stored next to a box of unwashed, raw potatoes in walk-in cooler. Potatoes moved to upper shelf during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed dust on fans in walk-in cooler. New violation.

Kimble’s Food by Design (Yamaha Plant No. 2), 1000 Hwy. 34 E., Newnan –  was inspected Feb. 1 and received a score of 90-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed raw hamburger patties stored next to pepperoni in reach-in cooler. Hamburger patties moved to lower shelf during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed dust buildup on ceiling tiles above front food service area. New violation.

Lavender Meadows Inc., 12 Savannah St.,  Newnan – was inspected Feb. 7 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed handwash sink being used to wash dishes. Discussed with owner that handwash sinks must only be used handwashing. Dishes should be washed in three-compartment sink. New violation. Observed an open bag of flour stored in cabinet. New violation.

Los Mariachis VII LLC, 1111 Lower Fayetteville Road, Newnan –  was inspected Feb. 6 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: Wrong inspection posted. New violation. Light bulb over grill area missing light shield. New violation.

Meat N’ Greet, 11 Jefferson St., Newnan –  was inspected Jan. 31 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed employee drink in main prep area on bottom shelf of prep area. Employee phones and purses stored on rack above single-use items behind front counter. New violation.

RPM Full Service,15 Jackson St.,Newnan –  was inspected Feb. 7 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed foods, such as salmon, pork and lettuce stored uncovered in reach-in cooler. New violation. Observed open box of potatoes and open box of cornmeal. New violation.

Sprayberry’s Barbecue No. 2, 1060 Hwy. 34 E., Newnan –  was inspected Feb. 1 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed small amount of black buildup on front side of ice machine deflector shield. New violation. Employee personal items, such as a phone stored on shelf in kitchen area. New violation.

Steak ‘N Shake, ,1249 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan –  was inspected Feb. 6 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed metal and plastic food pans wet-stacked. New violation. Observed food particles in cooler below milkshake making station. Area should be cleaned at frequency to prevent accumulation. New violation.

Tienda Y Taqueria Migueleño,2015 Hwy. 154, Suite 106,  Newnan – was inspected Feb. 4 and received a score of  88-B. Inspector’s comments: Bulk food containers need labeling. New violation. Observed open cornmeal and sugar not properly sealed after opening and sugar bag stored on the floor. New violation.
