Questions about tax cut for seniors

My wife and I are in our seventies.

Good news for us! We might have our school property tax exemption changed from $60,000 to $85,000. That would save us about $465 per year in taxes.

Wait a minute! If we are paying less taxes for the support of schools, citizens who are younger than us will have to pay higher taxes; or, schools will have less money.

We have grandchildren. We don't want public schools to have less money. Also, why should other citizens in our county have to share our tax burden? Why are tax computations so complicated? Have we grown into a society that worships money; that selfishly favors any idea that will save us money regardless of the consequences?

I have too many questions and no answers.
