The Northgate Lady Vikings lacrosse team battled region leading Hillgrove to the wire Monday night, but came up just short, dropping an 11-8 decision.
Hillgrove entered the game having outscored its first three region opponents 58-4, but was challenged by the Lady Vikings throughout the night.
Northgate goalie Emily Devereese kept the Lady Vikings in the game with crucial saves throughout the night.
The Lady Vikings cut the Hillgrove lead to 9-8 with just two minutes left in the contest.
Hillgrove, however, added two more insurance goals to secure the three-goal victory.
Kennedy Halpin had a hat trick to lead the Lady Vikings’ offense.
Callie DuBose and Mia Griswold each scored twice and Honey Kilgore scored a second-half goal.
Sarah Herda, Fanci Handley and Sarah Cook led the way with five ground balls each.
