The tournament is being played in Frisco, Texas.
Marshall comes into the event seeded sixth after posting an 18-13 record overall and an 11-7 mark in league play.
The Thundering Herd are on a five-game winning streak and concluded the regular season with victories over Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, FIU and FAU.

In its regular season meeting with Rice, the Thundering Herd lost 74-69.
A year ago, Williams and his Marshall teammates made it to the NCAA Sweet 16 after beating Wichita State 94-71 in the first round.
Let’s Dance: Former Trinity basketball standout Erick Valdez appears to be headed for a redshirt with Gardner Webb.
The freshman hasn’t appeared in any games this season, and would have four years of eligibility left.
However, he will get a taste of March Madness, even if it’s just sitting on the bench with his teammates after Gardner Webb won the Big South Tournament to secure an automatic bid to the NCAA.
It is the Bulldogs’ first trip to the NCAA in school history.
Gardner Webb beat Radford 76-65 in the tournament finals to punch it’s ticket to NCAA tournament.
The Bulldogs finished the season with a 23-11 record.
Valdez will be joined next year by Heritage standout Lance Terry.
