Newnan sweeps Bremen; EC teams fall to Harrison

Newnan lacrosse lineups swept newcomer Bremen on Tuesday at home with decisive victories at Drake Stadium.

The Lady Cougars recorded their first win of the season in a 12-7 decision against Bremen, which is in its first season of high school lacrosse.

Newnan’s girls hope to carry the momentum into Wednesday’s trip to face Area 3-6A/7A opponent Pebblebrook.

The Cougars, meanwhile, dominated a 17-0 shutout to win its second straight game at home. Newnan’s boys were coming off a 16-10 victory on Saturday over Lincoln High out of Tallahassee, Fla.

EAST COWETA STRUGGLES AGAINST HARRISON

East Coweta teams both dropped games on Tuesday at home against Harrison in Area 3-6A/7A play.

The Lady Hoyas jumped out for five goals in the opening three minutes and dominated a 24-4 decision. Annie Dennehy scored five goals to lead the way and Caroline Dennehy also had a hat trick for Harrison (5-2, 3-0), which stayed unbeaten in region play.

East Coweta’s boys fell to Harrison 13-4 while facing two playoff teams to begin the 3-6A/7A schedule in both the Hoyas and Hillgrove.

Owen DeBole scored the Indians final goal in the fourth quarter.

Hillgrove(3-0) leads Harrison (2-0) and McEachern (1-0) atop the standings.
