Hollis Stanley Boone, age 91, passed away in the early morning hours on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Benton House in Newnan, Ga. He was born on April 18, 1927 in Coweta County to the late Albert Boone and Ruth Boone.

Hollis was married to his wife, Julia, for 72 years and served his country as a Merchant Marine during WWII.

He spent most of his working life as a car salesman. Working for 21 years for Ford and later opening his own car business. During this time he built many lifelong friendships and became well known within the community.

After retiring, he spent the next 20 years pursuing his passion as a cattle farmer. Working well into his 80’s, managing his farm and cattle.

He was also a charter member of the First Christian Church, located at the corner of Jackson and Elm Street in Newnan, assisting with the church’s founding in 1951.

Along with his parents, Hollis is preceded in death by his son, Stanley Boone and siblings, Hugh Boone, Bruce Boone, Donny Boone and Evelyn Boone Jordan. He is survived by his loving wife, Julia Craven Boone; daughter, Linda Bishop and her husband John; grandchildren, Lee Singleton and his wife Christina and their daughter Allison, and Robert Boone and his wife Ruth.

The funeral is Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Morris and Rev. Richard Barr officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Rather than flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to First Christian Church, 8 Elm Street, Newnan, GA 30263.
