Mrs. Brenda Thrower, a homemaker of Carthage, Tenn., died at 2:25 a.m. Tuesday morning March 19, 2019 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tenn.

She had been hospitalized since February 14, being treated for colon cancer. Mrs. Thrower was 70.

Her pastor, Eld. Van Mathis, will officiate at the 1 p.m. funeral services on Thursday afternoon, March 21, at 1 p.m. from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Garden of Everlasting Life at Smith County Memorial
Gardens in Carthage.

The seventh of ten children, she was born Brenda Sue Bowman in Carthage on July 24,
1948 and was the daughter of the late Herman Alton Bowman who died June 14, 1983 at the age of 69 and Lorene Sexton Bowman who died August 28, 2002 at the age of 79.

Eight siblings preceded her in death, Roger Edward Bowman who died April 2, 2018 at
the age of 63, Jessie Wendolyn Bowman Hill who died February 19, 2017 at the age of 76,
David Herman “Bodie” Bowman who died July 17, 2014 at the age of 53, Alton Bowman who died May 10, 2014 at the age of 70, Shirley Dean Bowman Kemp who died February 29, 2011 at the age of 75, Charlotte Ann Bowman Givens who died Christmas Eve December 24, 2000 as the result of an automobile accident on Popes Hill, Billy Ray Sexton who died in 1981 and Elizabeth Ann Bowman who died October 30, 1946 at the age of 20 days.

On June 16, 1970 at the Smith County Courthouse in Carthage, she was united in marriage to Newnan, Georgia native Roy Lee Thrower, who was one of the original 17 employees
transferred to the new Gordonsville plant in 1967 by the William L. Bonnell Co. of Newnan.
The ceremony was performed by former Smith County Circuit Court Clerk Joe Herschel
Wilson with then T.H.P. Trooper Charles Ralph Butler as the witness.

Mrs. Thrower attended Smith County High School and received her General Education

She was saved at an early age and was baptized into the full fellowship of the East Carthage Missionary Baptist Church in Eastland Heights where she remained a member until death.

Surviving in addition to Mrs. Thrower’s husband of over 49 years are her two children, Connie Holmes Bush and husband John A. Bush Jr. of the Tanglewood Community,
Randle Dewayne Holmes of Carthage; sister, Vivian Bowman Petty Allen of Carthage; seven
grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and six great-grandchildren.
