The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m. Therefore, inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

Dunc’s BBQ Kitchen, 98 Jackson St., Newnan – was inspected Jan. 10 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed chemical spray bottles without labels. New violation. Observed open bags of cornmeal under prep table and on dry storage shelf . Bulk sugar bins without label. New violation.

Big Chic of Senoia, 7280 E. Hwy. 16, Suite A, Senoia –  was inspected Jan. 4 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed chemical spray bottles without labels stored on chemical rack. New violation. Open bags of sugar and bread crumbs stored on bottom shelf of prep table in fryer area. Open ingredients should be re-sealed or stored in a food grade container after opening. New violation

Cancer Treatment Center of America Southeast, 600 Celebrate Life Pkwy., Newnan – was inspected Jan. 7 and received a score of 88-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed wet-stacked dishes. Observed clean utensils in drawers with food debris. Observed a buildup of flour on parts of mixer. New violation.

Domino’s Pizza, 12 West Washington St., Newnan – was inspected Jan. 7 and received a score of 93-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed small drain flies near prep top coolers in the back near the three-compartment sink. Last pest control service Jan. 1. New violation. Observed lunch box, open bag of donuts and Gatorade bottle on prep table across from pizza oven. New violation.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries, 240 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan – was inspected Jan. 4  and received a score of 100-A.

Hardee’s , 231 Temple Ave., Newnan –  was inspected Jan. 10 and received a score of 89-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed buildup inside tea nozzles. Discussed how to properly break down tea urns with person-in-charge. New violation. No time stamps on food prep line. New violation.

Hartley Hotdogs LLC, 575 Pine Road, Suite B, Newnan –  was inspected Jan. 9 and received a score of 91-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed prep top cooler with ambient temperature of 50F. Prep top cooler temperature turned down during inspection and maintenance called to look at equipment. New violation.

The Veranda Bed and Breakfast, 252 Seavy St. , Senoia –  was inspected Jan. 9 and received a score of 100-A.

McDonald’s, 1425 Hwy. 29 S., Newnan–  was inspected Jan. 7 and received a score of 80-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed onion pieces in back handwash sink. Handwash sinks are only to be used for handwashing. New violation. Observed buildup on inside of ice cream machine. Date mark stickers present on clean food bins on dish drying rack. New violation.

Mitchell’s Shack Attack, 66 Roberts Road, Newnan –  was inspected Jan. 8 and received a score of 88-B. Inspector’s comments: No hair restraints. New violation. Observed open sugar and brown sugar not properly sealed after opening. New violation.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, 202 Newnan Crossing Newnan –  was inspected Jan. 4 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed accumulation of food debris on reach-in cooler shelves, on top of dry storage items and on top of pass-through area. New violation.

Waffle House, 15 Glenda Trace, Newnan –  was inspected Jan. 8 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed expired gallon gof two percent milk in reach-in cooler of front food service area. Discarded during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed a box of lids stored on the floor in dry storage area. Moved to shelf during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.
