Black History Month will be celebrated on Sunday at Providence Baptist Church on Summers-McKoy Road.

The service will start at 10 a.m. Dr. Melvin D. Brittian Jr., pastor at Providence, “will deliver the message for the Black History Celebration,” said church member Doris Powell.

East Newnan Baptist Church is offering “Grief with Grace” this Sunday.

Mrs. Barbara Redmond will share her testimony about grief.

“She will also share some tools to use – and the way to navigate through grief and loss with the grace of God,” East Newnan member June Harris said. “If you have lost a loved one, learning to navigate the loss can be a difficult struggle.”

The event will be held immediately after the 11 a.m. service. A meal will be provided.

Dr. Thomas Hammond, new executive director/treasurer of the Georgia Baptist Convention, will be talking with – and listening to – area Georgia Baptist pastor on Monday.

A Regional Listening Session is set for Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Villa Rica. A invitation has been extended to pastors and ministers in churches in the Western Baptist Association, which covers the Newnan area.
