Three people sustained major injuries after a head-on collision on W. Highway 34 early Wednesday afternoon.
At 3:15 p.m., Coweta County firefighters responded to the 2500 block of the highway near Fire Station 16 in the Dresden community. Upon arrival crews found two vehicles had collided and had left the roadway.
One person was ejected from a vehicle and another occupant required extraction, according to Battalion Chief Don Pickford.
Two patients were flown by air ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center and Grady Hospital. A third patient was taken by ground to Piedmont Newnan Hospital with non life threatening injuries, said Pickford.
W. Highway 34 remained closed for nearly two hours during the rescue. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the cause of the wreck.
