Heritage School’s boys basketball team went on the road Tuesday night and came away with a 54-31 victory over Cristo Rey in GISA Region 1-AAA action.
With the win, Heritage improved to 11-8 overall and 5-1 in the region.
Connor Thompson and EB Dowuona added 11 and 10 points, respectively, in the win.
It was Heritage’s second victory this year against Cristo Rey.
The Hawks return to action at Notre Dame on Friday.
In other boys action:
WHEELER 74, NEWNAN 57: The Cougars dropped to 6-13 overall and 0-6 in Region 2-7A action with a 74-57 loss on the road.
With the win, Wheeler improved to 15-6 overall and 5-2 in region play.
Newnan returns to action Friday with a region game at Pebblebrook.
Douglas County 70, Northgate 52: The Vikings are still looking for their first win in Region 5-6A after dropping a contest to the Douglas County Tigers on Tuesday.
Douglas County improved to 14-5 overall and 9-2 in the league.
The Vikings return to action on the road against Alexander on Friday.
In girls action:
WHEELER 58, NEWNAN 56: The Lady Cougars lost a heartbreaker Tuesday night falling to Wheeler 58-56.
It was the second meeting this year between the two schools.
In the first meeting, Newnan won 53-40.
Tuesday night one-point win was the first this year for Wheeler.
Newnan led 25-24 at the half and extended it to 48-40 heading into the final period.
Wheeler, however, outscored the Cougars 18-8 in the final period to post its first win of the season.
K.K. Madrey led Newnan with 16 points and Noelle Butts added 10 points and 17 rebounds in the loss for the Lady Cougars.
Newnan fell to 6-13 overall and1-5 in region play.
The Lady Cougars travel to Pebblebrook on Friday.
