Dec. 31 deadline to renew professional licenses
The deadline for chiropractic examiners, land surveyors, landscape architects, master barbers, professional engineers, psychologists and veterinarians to renew their licenses is Dec. 31. Currently, there are more than 40,000 licensees up for renewal.
Once a license-holder submits payment and verifies renewal, he or she can print a payment receipt and their professional license from the Secretary of State’s Professional Licensing Board’s website. Continuing education documents may need to be submitted if selected for an audit. For help, consult the office’s step-by-step instructions or call the professional licensing boards division at 478-207-2440.
Late fees are assessed if license-holder fails to renew before the deadline. Georgia law prohibits professional license-holders from practicing without licenses, which includes an expired license. After the late renewal period, licenses that have not been renewed will lapse, at which time license-holders must apply for reinstatement and meet all application requirements. Reinstatement of any license is at the discretion of the board.
