Word of God Lutheran Church, which is currently meeting in Peachtree City, will soon be moving to Coweta County.

The congregation recently broke ground for its new building recently. Children from the congregation joined members of the building committee in turning shovels of dirt at the new site on Highway 34 near Sharpsburg on Sept. 30.

The site is about one mile west of Sam's Club on 17 wooded acres that run along the banks of Shoal Creek. The new facility will be built by the Tomco Construction Company and is expected to be completed by summer of 2019.

Founded in 2010, Word of God Lutheran Church currently meets at 303 Kelly Drive, Peachtree City. Sunday services are at 10:15 a.m. with Sunday school at 9 a.m.

Word of God is a member congregation with the North American Lutheran Church and  Lutheran Congregations in Mission For Christ. Jeffrey Greene is the church’s pastor.
