The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m. Therefore, inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

Lee Middle School Cafeteria, 370 Willis Road, Sharpsburg – was inspected Nov. 2 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: Mechanical dishwashing machine was not reaching proper temperature during rinse cycle. Dish washing machine work order placed during inspection. Three-compartment sink should be used until repaired. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Willis Road Elementary Cafeteria, 430 Willis Road, Sharpsburg –  was inspected Nov. 2 and received a score of 100-A.

Winston Dowdell Academy School Cafeteria, 1 Dowdell Drive,  Newnan – was inspected Nov. 7 and received a score of 100-A.

Ansley Park Health and Rehabilitation, 450 Newnan Lakes Blvd., Newnan – was inspected Oct. 4 and received a score of 100-A.

Bistro 745 (Piedmont Newnan Hospital), 745 Poplar Road, Newnan – was inspected Oct. 1 and received a score of 91-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed a few wet wiping cloths on prep tables. New violation. Observed plastic food pans wet-stacked on shelving near dishwashing area. New violation.

Canongate on White Oak Clubhouse, 141 Clubview Drive, Newnan –  was inspected Oct. 1 and received a score of 89-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed tuna salad date marked Sept. 23, 2018. Discarded during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed biscuits under unwashed produce. Moved during inspection to ready-to-eat area in cooler. New violation.

Carmike Cinemas/AMC Classic, 87 Newnan Station Drive, Newnan –  was inspected Oct. 11 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed drink mix stored on the floor. New violation. Observed buildup/ grease/debris on top of popcorn machine. New violation.

China Chef Buffet, 67 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan –  was inspected Oct. 1 and received a score of 74-C. Inspector’s comments: Food particles inside handwash sink. New violation. Shrimp, mussels and other foods stored uncovered inside walk-in cooler and freezer. New violation.

Contemporary Catering, 25 Herring Road, Newnan –  was inspected Oct. 10 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed single-use items stored with no protection from contamination. Person-in-charge corrected on-site by throwing away top-soiled items and storing other properly. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Summit Food Service (Coweta County Correctional Facility), 560 Greison Trail, Newnan –  was inspected Oct. 3 and received a score of 94-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed food debris on multiple utensils, including the deli slicer, the mixer deck and few items on the clean shelf. New violation. Observed water leaking from under dish machine and tilt-skillet. Repeat violation.

Dunkin’ Donuts, 12 Bailey Station Drive, Sharpsburg –  was inspected Oct. 4 and received a score of 84-B. Inspector’s comments: Bulk sugar bin not labeled. New violation. Observed expired gallon of fat-free milk dated September 29, 2018. New violation.

Chapultepec Mexican Restaurant, 105 Village Circle, Suites A and B, Senoia –  was inspected Oct. 11 and received a score of 86-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed frozen crumbs stored uncovered in freezer. New violation. Observed black buildup on drink nozzles and on deflector shield of ice machine. Drink nozzles cleaned during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Fried Tomato Buffet, 1180 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan –  was inspected Oct. 10 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed one chemical spray bottle not labeled. New violation. Wet wiping cloths stored on prep tables in kitchen area. New violation.

Lavender Meadows Inc., 12 Savannah St., Newnan –  was inspected Oct. 3 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: Box of service cups stored on the floor. Moved to the shelf. Corrected on-site. New violation. No paper towels in restroom. New violation.

Little Caesars Pizza, 3219 Hwy. 34 E., Newnan –  was inspected Oct. 4 and received a score of 87-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed open pizza seasoning bag stored in walk-in cooler. Bag should be sealed after opening. New violation. Observed food containers and pans wet-stacked on dish drying rack. New violation.

Los Mariachis, 1111 Lower Fayetteville Road, Newnan –  was inspected Oct. 3 and received a score of 85-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed plastic container being used as a scoop in sugar bin. Discarded during inspection. Scoops must have handles. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed no paper towels at handwash sink. Paper towels supplied during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Main Street Fudge and Ice Cream Shop, 42 Main St., Senoia –  was inspected Oct. 2 and received a score of 100-A.

Matt’s Smalltown Pizza, 53 Main St., Suite E, Senoia –  was inspected Oct. 11 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: Heavy lime buildup in ice machine. New violation. Observed hair restraint stored on rack with food pans. New violation.
