The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m. Therefore, inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

McDonald’s, 2907 Hwy. 85, Senoia – was inspected Oct. 11 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed flies in kitchen dining area. New violation. Observed wet-wiping cloths stored on prep tables in multiple areas throughout the kitchen. Wet-wiping cloths should be held in sanitizer buckets between use. New violation.

Peking Restaurant, 7280 Hwy. 16, Senoia – was inspected Oct. 2 and received a score of 88-B. Inspector’s comments: Buildup on outsides of bulk food bins. New violation. Observed raw chicken stored over egg roll wraps in walk-in cooler. Gave copy of safe food storage handout. New violation.

Subway, 7280 Hwy. 16 E., Senoia – was inspected Oct. 2 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed employee personal items such as keys, candy and drink stored on food service back counter. Items moved during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Tienda Y Taqueria Migueleno, 2015 Hwy. 154, Suite 106, Newnan – was inspected Oct. 1 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: Bag of flour stored on the floor. Moved to counter. Corrected on-site. New violation. Bowl stored in flour. Need utensil with a handle. New violation.

Waffle House, 1363 Hwy. 29 S., Newnan – was inspected Oct. 2 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed no handwashing signs posted in both restrooms. Observed no permit posted. Observed no choking poster posted. Repeat violation.

Waffle House, 1030 Hwy. 34 E., Newnan – was inspected Oct. 3 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed buildup present on wall of ice machine and on deflector shield. Observed black mold-like buildup on back wall of ice bin under drink station. New violation.

Wings on Wheels, 2922 Hwy. 85, Senoia – was inspected Oct. 2 and received a score of 91-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed handwash sink blocked with sanitizer bucket. Sanitizer prepared and bucket moved during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed heavy grease buildup around fryer area and on equipment. New violation.

Your Chef To Go, Inc., 98 Werz Industrial Blvd., Senoia – was inspected Oct. 4 and received a score of 100-A.
