Police investigate the area where shots were fired following a road rage incident Sunday evening.

Investigators believe an incident of road rage led to a shooting in a Newnan parking lot.

The incident occurred Sunday evening in the parking lot in front of Jo-Ann Fabric and Five Below.

Two couples were involved in the dispute that escalated until several shots were fired by one male, sending one victim to Grady Memorial Hospital, according to Investigator Jacob Herbert with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim’s condition is unknown at this time, but he was reportedly coherent prior to leaving for the hospital.

A person of interest in the case was interviewed, but no charges have been filed at this time. No one else was injured in the shooting, although one car was struck by a bullet during the dispute, authorities said.

Charges could be pending, and the investigation remains ongoing.
