A Newnan High School student was caught with a taser in the bus loading zone Wednesday.
According to a letter sent to parents Wednesday by NHS Principal Chase Puckett, administrators were informed late Wednesday afternoon that a student in the bus loading zone was in possession of a taser.
The student was identified, the taser confiscated, and the Coweta County Central Office and the Newnan Police Department notified.
“Appropriate disciplinary and legal action is being taken,” Puckett wrote in the letter.
He urged parents to remind their students to bring only approved items onto the campus and to notify Newnan High’s administration any time they are concerned about their safety.
“The administration’s continued emphasis on safety remains an utmost priority,” Puckett wrote. “It is my goal to always be proactive when the safety of students is concerned.”
