The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m. Therefore, inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

Cambridge House,  2687 154 Hwy., Newnan – was inspected Aug. 21 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: Boxes of food stored on the floor. New violation. Exposed light bulbs in prep area. New violation.

Chick-fil-A, 5 Glenda Trace, Newnan –  was inspected Aug. 28 and received a score of 97-A. Inspector’s comments: Wet-stacked food pans on drying rack. New violation. Observed minimal ice buildup on fan grates in walk-in freezer. New violation.

Firehouse Subs, 226 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan – was inspected Aug. 28 and received a score of 91-A. Inspector’s comments: Mold on deflector shield of ice machine. New violation. Box of napkins stored on the floor. Cups stored unprotected on service counter. New violation.

Jamaican Delight Caribbean Cuisine, 225 E. Hwy. 34, Newnan – was inspected Aug. 28 and received a score of 94-A. Inspector’s comments: Date mark stickers present on the outside of clean food bins on drying rack. Date mark stickers should be removed completely before washing, rinsing, sanitizing and air drying. New violation. Cardboard stored on the floor in kitchen area. Cardboard is not considered a cleanable surface and cannot be used in the kitchen. New violation.

Kimble’s Food by Design (Yamaha Plant No. 2), 1000 E. Hwy. 34, Newnan – was inspected Aug. 27 and received a score of 100-A.

Kimble’s Food by Design (Yamaha Plant No. 1), 1000 E. Hwy. 34, Newnan –  was inspected Aug. 27 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: Buildup on drop area of ice machine. New violation. Observed missing light shield in walk-in freezer. New violation.
