East Newnan Baptist Church is collecting canned goods during the month of October.

The food will go to the A.O. House. “It is a ministry run by First Baptist Church in Newnan,” said East Newnan member June Harris.

East Newnan’s Craft Group will meet Monday at 6 p.m.

“We will be working on sleep mats for the homeless and activity throws for those with Alzheimer's,” Harris said. “Working as a team, we can reach many for Christ.”

Providence Baptist Church on Summers-McKoy Road will celebrate its 137th anniversary on Sunday.

The service will start at 9:30 a.m. Dr. Melvin D. Brittian Jr., pastor of the church, will deliver the anniversary sermon.

“Rickey Powell and Susan Brittian are chairpersons for the church anniversary celebration,” said Doris Powell, who helps with publicity for the church.

The Western Baptist Association will hold its 189th annual Fall Meeting on Tuesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 2194 W. Grantville Road.

Registration with coffee and cake will be at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. John Pape, pastor of Luthersville Baptist Church, will bring the message.
