We see a dangerous trend in unmitigated assaults on character.
During the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings character assassination was directed at Anita Hill – including suggestions she was mentally ill. Most recently this technique was used against Brett Kavanaugh by accusing him of attempted rape.
What makes this so alarming – aside from the damage to the individual – is the fervor of Democrats in their pursuit to reclaim power after their losses from the 2016 elections.
Even the FBI, once viewed as a bastion of unbiased investigation, has been corrupted by Democrats attempting to obfuscate the enquiry of Clinton’s unlawful e-mail server for State Department messages where “Clinton aides were both given immunity and allowed to destroy their laptops;” the mishandling of the investigation into the Benghazi fiasco; and a secret FBI cabal working to defeat Trump in the 2016 elections.
Edmund Burke once said, “Those who have been once intoxicated with power, and have derived any kind of emolument from it, even though but for one year, can never willingly abandon it.” And we see this confirmed today.
Until recently this unabashed slavering for control was largely limited to vocalizations in Congress and liberal courtrooms in the 9th Circuit. But has this segued into overt violence?
Maxine Waters said, “If you see [Trump officials] in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out, and you create a crowd, and you push back on them.” (Ex.: Sarah Sanders; Ted Cruz) Some see this as encouraging riotous attacks on Republicans.
It is not too far fetched that physical attacks would inevitably result from the unchecked actions of the Democratic Party. In June 2017 a 10-minute weapon assault transpired by left-wing activist James Hodgkinson against a Congressional Republican baseball team. In November 2017, registered Democrat Rene Boucher blindsided Sen. Rand Paul from behind, breaking five of Paul’s ribs and bruising his lungs. Will more violence ensue?
Rational voters need to see Democrat – Progressive; Liberal; Left-Wing – aggression for what it is: a lust for power and control sparked by their own hubris. Not a healthy competition for the vote of the people, but a bigoted attack upon those with an opinion at variance from their own. These altercations may be character assassinations, verbal assaults or physical attacks. A civilized society cannot allow these to continue unabated. “The world is a dangerous place to live… because of the people who don't do anything about it.” – Albert Einstein
And Daniel Webster sagely extemporized: “There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.” Democrats epitomize this timeless truth.
