A 16-month-old girl has died as result of drowning, authorities said.
On Oct. 9, Grantville Police responded to a missing child call in the St. Charles subdivision.
Initial investigation revealed the parents reported their child was missing for around 15 minutes, according to Investigator Lawrence Ethridge.
After the child was found in a nearby body of water, family members began CPR. Officers from the Grantville Police Department took over CPR until Coweta County Fire Rescue arrived.
The child was transported to Piedmont Newnan Hospital before she was transferred to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta/Egleston in Atlanta, authorities said.
The child passed away the following day. Investigators are still looking into how the child ended up in the water, and the case remains under investigation.
