Despite its best efforts, Trinity Christian was unable to slow down a streaking Eagle’s Landing Christian lineup that was playing on its home floor while opening Area 2-A play on Tuesday.
A tri-match in McDonough that also included Strong Rock Christian saw Trinity respond from a 20-25, 22-25 loss to host ELCA by quickly bouncing back for a sweep.
The Lady Lions dominated Strong Rock 25-13, 25-19, while continuing to get a balanced defensive effort.
Senior libero Juliana Howser led the way with nine, while sophomore Addy Taylor and junior Stevee Kirkland each added five.
Taylor’s posted a team-high nine kills against Strong Rock, while junior Lea Jordan added six, with four digs.
Sophomore setter Emma Long added a team-high four aces while posting 19 assists.
ELCA entered Tuesday on a five-match winning streak dating back to 2-1 losses against Wesleyan and Whitewater on Aug. 18 and 21.
The Lady Chargers withstood 11 kills from Jordan in their match against the Lady Lions, who also received six from junior Savannah Poling. Taylor led the defense for Trinity with seven digs, while senior Jordan Gregg added six.
Along with a victory over Area 2 opponent Our Lady of Mercy, who travels to Trinity on Tuesday, ELCA improved to 14-5 overall.
The Lady Lions, now 6-2 overall to go with a 1-1 start in Area 2, will also face Landmark Christian (7-7, 1-0) in Tuesday’s area tri-match at home.
