The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m. Therefore, inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hair nets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

Bee’z Eats, 395 Millard Farmer Industrial Blvd., Newnan – was inspected July 31 and received a score of 81-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed spatulas and food utensils stored between three-compartment sink and wall, which is not a cleanable area. New violation. Employee belongings stored with food pans and tea. New violation.

Bojangles’, 2800 Hwy. 34 E, Newnan –  was inspected July 31 and received a score of 97-A. Inspector’s comments: Ice buildup in walk-in freezer. Person-in-charge stated repair order has been placed. New violation. Observed pans wet-stacked on storage rack. Pans unstacked during inspection to air dry. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Chylacas Mexican Restaurant, 3154 Hwy. 34 E, Suite 205/206, Newnan – was inspected Aug. 1 and received a score of 90-A. Inspector’s comments: Deep freezer lid not properly sealing. New violation. Observed walk-in cooler with ambient temperature of 49F with beef and chicken stored inside. Person-in-charge said an order for a replacement walk-in cooler had been placed. New violation.

Church’s Chicken, 20 Hospital Road, Newnan – was inspected Aug. 1 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed broom and dustpan stored near handwash sink. These items should be returned to designated area after use. New violation.

Duff’s Famous Wings, 3150 Hwy. 34 E, Newnan – was inspected July 31 and received a score of 93-A. Inspector’s comments: Need test strips for dish washing machine. New violation. Observed boxes of wing sauce, fryer oil and degreaser stored on the floor the back storage room. New violation.

Dynasty Lin Inc., 34 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan –  was inspected Aug. 2 and received a score of 88-B. Inspector’s comments: Buckets of broccoli, carrots, cabbage, and fish stored uncovered in the walk-in cooler. New violation. Observed expired milk in walk-in cooler dated July 27, 2018. Mold present on the ginger root stored in walk-in cooler. Both items were discarded during the inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Little Caesars, 44 Bullsboro Drive, Suite G, Newnan –  was inspected July 30 and received a score of 86-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed a box of cookies stored on the floor under the front counter. Placed on a crate during the inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed chemical spray bottles stored on a shelf with frosting. Moved to lower shelf during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Longhorn Steakhouse, 1112 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan –  was inspected Aug. 2 and received a score of 88-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed black buildup inside two soda gun nozzles. Cleaned during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Walk-in cooler with ambient temperature of 48F. Repair order called in during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Starlite Family Fun Center, 55 Thomas Grace Annex, Sharpsburg –  was inspected Aug. 1 and received a score of 87-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed chemical spray bottles unlabeled. New violation. Observed open bait station in main kitchen. All pest control must be administered by a pest control specialist. New violation.

The Oink Joint, 9 East Washington St., Newnan – was inspected July 31 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed split gasket on walk-in freezer door. New violation. Observed one torn ceiling tile and some stained ceiling tiles. New violation.

Town & Country Restaurant, 8 Franklin Hwy.,  Newnan – was inspected July 31 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: Scoop handle in corn meal. New violation. Salad, bacon, green beans and mashed potatoes stored inside cooler with lid and plastic wrap. Lid and plastic wrap removed for airflow to allow proper cooling. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Waffle House, 15 Glenda Trace, Newnan – was inspected July 30 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed ibuprofen stored on shelf in the front food service area. New violation. Employee drink stored near condiments in front food service area. New violation.
