Nominations open for Senior of the Week
Seniors are an important part of the community who are often not recognized as much as they should be. Do you know a senior who uses his or her retirement time to volunteer or help others? A Senior of the Week will be highlighted on Sundays on the Senior Living page in The Newnan Times-Herald.
To nominate someone you think is worthy of the honor, email firstname.lastname@example.org with the nominee’s name, why they should be the Senior of the Week, and a photo.

Local couple celebrates 63rd wedding anniversary
Local couple Gabriella and Adriano Manso de Sousa recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Both were born in Madeira, Portugal. Adriano was a designer for the family embroidery linen business founded by his father in Portugal for several years. The couple met at a ball at the Ritz Hotel in Madeira.
In 1969, they migrated to the U.S. with their two sons, Paulo and Antonio. The family lived in a one-room garage apartment in the San Francisco Bay area in California that belonged to a family member for one year before Adriano could buy his own house.
In 1998, the couple followed their sons to Miami. In 2009, Newnan became their home, when they again followed their sons. Paulo Manso de Sousa said the family is very close and although they all have lived in different geographical areas, they always end up close together.
