The Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office has made several arrests in a murder and aggravated assault investigation that occurred on Highway 100 Aug. 4.
Meriwether County patrol deputies, assisted by the Georgia State Patrol, responded to the 3000 block of Ga. Hwy 100 in Greenville, in reference to a reported shooting at a private party.
The incident happened around 2:11 a.m.
According to a press release issued by Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith, a large crowd was separating a confrontation that was occurring in the grass parking lot. During the confrontation, a 25-year-old male was shot.
The man was transported to an area hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
A second person was reported injured at an Atlanta area hospital around 7 a.m. It was determined by officers that the individual had been shot at the same incident.
The second individual, who was shot in the face, is expected to be treated and released from the hospital.
Witnesses were able to provide the description of a pickup truck that left the scene, reportedly involved in the altercation, occupied by several black subjects. Witnesses told police that the subjects were firing weapons at the scene.
One subject reportedly jumped into the bed of the truck and fired a weapon at the crowd while the truck was driving away from the scene.
A felony traffic stop was performed on the truck on Woodbury Highway, several miles outside of Greenville, after a responding patrol supervisor observed the vehicle.
Three subjects were in the vehicle, and law enforcement personnel were able to locate items in the truck that were consistent with the information received from witnesses. Three subjects were taken into custody.
Dylontae Carrikter, 21, Johnterrius McGill, 23, and Lance Hall, 22, have been charged with felony murder and are being held in the Meriwether County Jail without bond.
