The Newnan Lady Cougars softball team continued its hot streak to start the 2018 season with an 8-2 victory over Northgate at home on Tuesday.
With the victory, Newnan improved to 5-0, while Northgate fell to 1-1.
Newnan scored twice in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back.
Alex Williams helped pace the Lady Cougars’ victory with three hits and four RBIs.
Danielle Curlee used her speed for the Lady Cougars finishing 4-for-4 with two RBIS and three runs scored.
Curlee finished the game with two doubles and a triple to help the Lady Cougars stay unbeaten.
Northgate cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the second getting an RBI from Ashley Kent.
Newnan sent nine batters to the plate in the third inning and scored three runs.
After the Lady Cougars took a 6-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth, the Lady Vikings scored their final run of the game in the top of the fifth on an RBI from Alexis Brandon.
Williams put the game out of reach for the Lady Cougars with a single to drive in the final two Newnan runs in the top of the bottom of the sixth.
Ansley Houston picked up the victory for the Lady Cougars from the circle throwing 94 pitches striking out three and walking one.
The Lady Vikings had their chances to push runners across the plate after putting at least one runner on board in each inning, but left 10 runners stranded.
Kent, Natalie Heath and Brandon each finished with two hits for the Lady Vikings.
The Lady Vikings sent two pitchers to the circle with Bolinger starting the game and Madison Lumpp working in relief and striking out two.

Trinity 14, Flint River 1, four innings: The Lady Lions scored nine runs in the first two innings and rolled to a 14-1 victory over Flint River.
Brianna Boyd tossed a no-hitter for the Lady Lions, striking out four in a game called after four innings by the mercy rule.
The Lady Lions, who are competing in the Georgia High School Association for the first time this year, beat Flint River less than 24 hours after dropping the season opener against Northgate.
Twins Jordan and Brianna Boyd paced Lady Lions’ offense. Jordan was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3, driving in five runs and scoring three times.
Brianna was 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
Mattie McCraken, Laney Armistead and Kendall Wells each drove in a run. McCracken also finished with two hits.
