On Aug. 5, Evelyn Inez Setlock (nee McSwiggan) passed peacefully at the Avalon Nursing home.

She was surrounded by her sons, John and Eric; daughter, Michelle Aller; grandchildren, Kristen Aller and Erica; sisters, Kate Devlin and Pat Currier.

She was known as “Aunt Nez” to her many nieces, nephews and their children also.

Inez obtained an associate degree in business and worked in multiple positions throughout her life. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, needle-point and was accomplished in floral arranging and glass etching. She was known to play the slots in Las Vegas and was quite good at darts while drinking wine coolers at a local pub.

Her love of reading, however, surpassed all other pursuits and often it was the sci-fi genre.

Not all of Inez’s quests were sedentary; she danced on American Bandstand and grew up swimming in Ocean City, N.J. While visiting her sister in Colorado, she mountain trekked in the Rockies, white-water rafted on the Colorado river and enjoyed the beauty of the Air Force Academy.

In Hawaii, Inez climbed the Diamond Head State Monument, swam in the clear blue waters of Waimanalo Beach and fed the fish in Hanauma Bay.

Inez was bold, outspoken and opinionated. But above all, Inez was a caring and loving soul who will be missed by all of us who love her.
