Avalon Health and Rehabilitation recently celebrated Leticia “Tish” Arnold for more than 40 years of work in the elderly care and rehabilitation industry.
Arnold’s co-workers at Avalon put together a party on Friday to mark the amount of time she has spent caring for the elderly. As a surprise, Arnold’s family came from out of town to attend the party.
“I don’t know what to say,” Arnold said as she entered the activity room at Avalon.
“We’re so proud to have you here,” said Miriam Deberry, a co-worker at Avalon. “This is for you because 40 years of service is awesome.”
When a friend who worked at Beaulieu Convalescent Center planned to leave the position and needed a replacement, Arnold took the job, just out of high school, and got her start in the dietary department. She worked at Beaulieu for 35 years before moving to Avalon. She is the current activity assistant and is not planning to retire.
“You work so hard for patients every day,” Deberry said.
“I love what I do,” said Arnold, “I love working with the elderly.”
