The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

Food inspections can be conducted during any hours of operation or whenever food is being prepped in the permitted establishment. Inspections are made at varying times to ensure that the food service rules and regulations are being followed. Some establishments have hours after 5 p.m. Therefore, inspections will be conducted when risk factors can be observed for compliance. Inspectors wear hairnets during checks to protect the food, which is also a requirement for those working around open food.

Using a 41-category checklist, an environmental health specialist checks compliance in safe handling of food, proper disposal of garbage, and other areas.

American Deli, 44 Bullsboro Drive, Suite C, Newnan – was inspected on May 22 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: One package of shrimp stored uncovered in freezer. One bucket of pickles stored uncovered in walk-in cooler. New violation. Observed black mold on deflector shield of ice machine. New violation.

American Deli, 1053 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan –  was inspected on May 24 and received a score of 91-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed buildup in the ice machine. New violation. Observed a container with shredded lettuce  and opened container of coleslaw in the walk-in cooler not datemarked. Dates were added to items. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Brain Freeze, 10 Line Creek Road, Senoia – was inspected on May 18 and received a score of 96-A. Inspector’s comments: Plastic shelf is directly on the floor. Storage should be six inches off the floor. New violation. Leave coffee cups in plastic sleeve to protect lip area New violation.

Dairy Queen, 1700 Hwy. 34 E,  Newnan – was inspected on May 21 and received a score of 83-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed clean slicers stored on a dirty cart. Cart has buildup present. Clean dishes are to be stored on a clean surface to prevent contamination. New violation. Thermometers in coolers are broken and need to be replaced. New violation.

Georgian Stadium 14, 232 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan – was inspected on May 22 and received a score of 88-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed three cans of whipped cream in the reach-in cooler with an expiration date of of November 4, 2017. Items were discarded. Corrected on-site. New violation. Cooler not cooling properly. Food items moved to another reach-in cooler until cooler is repaired. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Einstein Brothers Bagels, 311 Bullsboro Drive, Suite 100,  Newnan – was inspected on May 22 and received a score of 99-A. Inspector’s comments: No inspection report posted in the drive-thru window. New violation.

El Ranchero, 211 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan –  was inspected on May 23 and received a score of 92-A. Inspector’s comments: Black mold present in ice cooler underneath drink dispenser. New violation. Food bins stored on the floor in the walk-in cooler. New violation.

IHOP, 630 Hwy. 34 E, Newnan –  was inspected on May 23 and received a score of 80-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed two opens bags of shredded lettuce in walk-in cooler with no date markings. Dates were added. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed buildup on can opener, wedge master and shelving storing clean dishes. Observed several plates with buildup present stored beneath the grill with clean plates. New violation.

Krystal, 220 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan –  was inspected on May 23 and received a score of 88-B. Inspector’s comments: Observed black drippings on a tray of raw shell eggs in the walk-in cooler. Employee discarded eggs. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed buildup present on both the ice dispenser and drink dispenser nozzles in the dining area and in the ice machine in the main kitchen. New violation.

Onelife Fitness-Newnan Sports Club,  Newnan –  was inspected on May 23 and received a score of 100-A. Inspector’s comments: No inspection report posted in the drive-thru window. New violation.

Panda Express, 1015 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan –  was inspected on May 23 and received a score of 100-A.

Panera Bread, 379 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan –  was inspected on May 22 and received a score of 94-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed ice buildup in the walk-in freezer. New violation. Observed a basil leaf on the clean slicer and tomatoes on the clean tomato slicer. Both slicers cleaned during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Partners II Pizza at Summergrove, 48 Market Square Road, Newnan –  was inspected on May 22 and received a score of 98-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed two boxes of plastic cups stored on the floor in dry storage area. New violation.

Pie Five Pizza, 311 Bullsboro Drive, Suite 190, Newnan –  was inspected on May 24 and received a score of 76-C. Inspector’s comments: Observed glass cleaner stored above carry-out bags and bags of flour. Chemicals stored in another area. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed tomato residue still on clean tomato slicer and on can opener. Both pieces of equipment cleaned. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Pita by the Beirut, 326 Newnan Crossing Bypass,  Newnan – was inspected on May 23 and received a score of 95-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed one bulk bin unlabeled. New violation. Observed one box of expired Horizon milk drinks dated April 22, 2018. Milk discarded during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation.

Pita Mediterranean Street Food, 3150 Hwy. 34 E, Suite 204,  Newnan – was inspected on May 24 and received a score of 94-A. Inspector’s comments: Observed expired Horizon milk cartons dated May 1, 2018. Discarded during inspection. Corrected on-site. New violation. Observed a cup being used as a scoop in sugar. Removed during inspection and replaced with a scoop with a handle. Corrected on-site. New violation.
