The 20 students in Central Christian School’s Class of 2018 recently participated in commencement ceremonies at the school’s Sharpsburg campus.

They included:

Valedictorian Quincy Mark Gabriel Grigsby: High honors graduate who attended Central for four years. Mercer Academic Merit Scholarship for $17,000 each year; Zell Miller Hope Scholarship; Beta Club; Key Club; Crusader Award for Sports; basketball; football. He will major in mechanical engineering at Mercer University.

Salutatorian Marcellus Jesus Giles: High honors graduate who attended Central for three years. Zell Miller Hope Scholarship; football scholarship to Shorter University; Beta Club; dual-enrolled at the University of West Georgia; football Offensive Player of the Year, All-Region; basketball; bass fishing; GA Shootout Lineman Challenge Champion

Kendra Marie Anderson: Honors graduate who attended Central for 14 years. Student Ambassador; Key Club; volleyball, cheerleading Most Improved; soccer, softball. She currently is a senior Mary Kay consultant and plans on attending cosmetology school.

Isabella Lorena Arcadi: Honors graduate who attended Central for three years. Real Church Ronald McCurry Memorial Scholarship for $500; HOPE Scholarship; Shorter University Founders Scholarship for $4,000; Newnan Utilities Scholarship for $500; dual enrolled at West Georgia Technical College; Beta Club; volleyball; cheerleading. She will attend Shorter University.

Michael DeWayne Bell Jr.: Attended Central for two years. Beta Club; Key Club; football Offensive Player of the Year, All-Star, All-Region; dog show champion with five dogs. He will attend Tulsa Welding School in Jacksonville, Fla.

Ryley William Byers: Honors graduate who attended Central for 14 years. All-Region and All-State basketball; MVP junior varsity basketball; football;  2018 state golf champion, 2017 state golf runner-up; Most Improved in golf. He will attend Stillman College.

Liam Timothy Clayton: Honors graduate who attended Central for six years. HOPE Scholarship; 2018 state golf champion, 2017 state golf runner-up; baseball, basketball and football. He will attend Middle Georgia State University.

Robert Kenneth Finley: High honors graduate who attended Central for nine years. HOPE Scholarship; Key Club; Praise Band; Jazz Band; sound and light technician for CCS events. He will pursue a degree in music engineering from Columbus State University.

Samantha Lily Gagnon: High honors graduate who attended Central for 13 years. Volleyball team; Zell Miller HOPE Scholarship; University of West Georgia Housing Ambassador Scholarship for $2,500; completed 45 hours at UWG through dual-enrollment; candidate for the Honors MBA program at UWG.

Thomas Alexander Helms: High honors graduate who attended Central for three years. HOPE Scholarship and Beta Club. He plans to attend the University of West Georgia.

Joshua Todd London: Honors graduate who attended Central for nine years. Key Club; Praise Band; Jazz Band; bass fishing team Coach’s Award; basketball; football; soccer; Eagle Scout; volunteer firefighter for Meriwether County. He will attend West Georgia Technical College and intern for Delta Airlines this fall.

Alexander Antonio Roberto Nugent: Attended Central for two years. Key Club; football; baseball; lacrosse; wrestling. He plans to study phlebotomy and enroll in a bridge program for nursing.

Mason Michael Parrott: Honors graduate who attended Central for four years and played basketball. He is enrolled in EMT school, plans to become a paramedic and to enroll in a bridge program for nursing.

Caleb Tyler Ruck: High honors graduate who attended Central for six years. HOPE Scholarship; Shorter University Founders Scholarship for $4,000; Beta Club; Key Club; football; baseball Coach’s Award; All-State junior varsity basketball. He will attend Shorter University or South Georgia Technical College.

Tucker Wayne Settle: High honors graduate who attended Central for one year.  HOPE Scholarship; dual-enrolled at Welch College; Coach Thompson Character Award; Student of the Semester; National Honor Society; Key Club; football Defensive Player of the Year; soccer state Final Four; All-Star, freshman chaplain. He will attend Welch College, Point University or Brewton-Parker.

Ivy Grace Shepherd: High honors graduate who attended Central for four years. HOPE Scholarship; golf scholarship to Clemson University; dual-enrolled at Point University and the University of West Georgia; Athlete of the Year; Coach’s Award, golf state champion, three-time region low medalist and two-time state low medalist; four-time state basketball champion, All-Region, All-State and All-Star.

Kaitlyn Elizabeth Smith: High honors graduate who attended Central for six years. HOPE Scholarship; Christian Leadership Award; Beta Club; Key Club; Coach’s Award for cheerleading; MVP and Coach’s Award for volleyball; yearbook photographer. She will attend LaGrange College.

Thomas Avery Staples: Honors graduate who attended Central for two years. HOPE Scholarship; football scholarship from Shorter University; Beta Club; Key Club; Defensive Player of the Year, All-Region and All-State football; track and field.

Dalton Gray Twiggs: Honors graduate who attended Central for one year. HOPE Scholarship; Key Club; basketball All-Region and Coach’s Award; baseball. He will attend Middle Georgia State University.

Alan John Whiteside: Honors graduate who attended Central for three years. HOPE scholarship; football scholarship to Shorter University; Beta Club; Football MVP and Coach’s Award; basketball All-Region and All-State teams; bass fishing team; GA Shootout Lineman Challenge Champion.
