After guiding the East Coweta Lady Indians to the Class 7-A softball title with an undefeated 36-0 season last fall, Franklin Deloach will serve as the head coach for the South team in this week’s GACA All-Star softball game at the University of West Georgia.
Contest will be played Monday through Wednesday at the softball stadium at West Georgia. Games are set for 7 p.m.
Former East Coweta standouts Ashlyn Gunter and Rachel Vaughan will have chance to play one last time for Deloach after making the South roster.
“It’s the oldest high school coaches association in Georgia. It’s the official organization that selects all-state athletes for every sport,” DeLoach said. “I have to be honest, I really don’t even know how many games we play because I have never been apart of it. I am just honored to get the chance to coach.”
Vaughan will continue her college softball career at South Carolina after pitching and playing the infield for East Coweta.
Gunter will play college softball at Georgia Southern where she will be a teammate of former East Coweta standout Mekhia Freeman and former Newnan standout Hannah Scarbrough.
Both Vaughan and Gunter were also named to the All-County softball team after last year’s state title season.
