The General Daniel Newnan Chapter, NSDAR, and the Marquis de Lafayette Chapter, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution, have recognized Synovus Bank on Jefferson Street for its display of the American flag.
The two organizations presented certificates of appreciation to the bank on May 3. The certificates were for “Proper Use, Correct Display and Patriotic Presentation of The Flag of the United States of America.”
Chris Thompson, Gail Bips and James Whitlock received the certificates on behalf of the bank. “We appreciate the acknowledgement of our flag,” stated Whitlock.
Brenda Jessel, Kitty Kelley and Audrey Wileyof General Daniel Newnan Chapter, NSDAR, took part in the presentation. Kelley is the chapter’s regent. LCDR David Jessel USN Ret, past president, Marquis de Lafayette GASSAR and Pat McBurnett, flag chair also participated.
The DAR and SAR together with the Veterans of Foreign Wars , American Legion and Boy Scouts held a Flag Retirement Ceremony on June 9 at Coweta Veterans Club. Flags of all sizes were respectfully retired.
