Roses floating in brandy snifters, arranged in unusual designs – filling large rooms – will be part of the South Metro Rose Society Rose Show on May 19-20 in Fayetteville.
The 33rd annual Rose Show will be held from 1-4 p.m. both days in the fellowship hall at Fayetteville Church of Christ, 870 Redwine Rd. Local rose growers are invited to enter their roses for ribbons and prizes.
Members of the society will advise newcomers on entering their roses by calling the number below. Entries must be made at the show site from 5:30-9:30 a.m. on May 19 for judging. The show is free to the public from 1-4 p.m. on both days to view, smell and photograph the exhibited roses.
Hundreds of roses and rose arrangements will be displayed. Rose bouquets will be sold, and there will be an information table where questions will be answered by American Rose Society Consulting Rosarians. Items to be raffled include nursery gift certificates, restaurant gift certificates, Georgia Renaissance Festival tickets, gardening items and rose bushes.
South Metro Rose Society is affiliated with the American Rose Society headquartered in Shreveport, La. SMRS meets on the fourth Monday of January-April and August-October at 6:30 p.m. at the Heritage Bank, 440 N. Jeff Davis Drive, Fayetteville.
